Restaurant Ratings & Reviews Rainforest Cafe (MGM Grand)

3 Stars Levi February 27, 2012

More of a novelty restaurant than anything. Atmosphere is great and the gift shop is mainly meant for kids, like the restaurant itself. Can't say much about the food; you get what you pay for.

2 Stars Lisa February 18, 2012

Food was horrible especially for the price. Atmosphere was awesome but not enough to overcome the food.

4 Stars Sixstud December 04, 2011

The "Earth Pasta" was very tasty if a tad garlicky, and the atmosphere was pleasant to be in, although it can grate after a significant time here. If you are a wee bit warm, ask for a seat near the waterfall, as the breeze is rather cooling. We'd come back again.

Great food. Fun& relaxing atmosphere. Prompt service. Will go again!

4 Stars Howard July 31, 2011

Be prepared for a long wait...or take the easy option and sit at the bar. Chicken sandwich was enormous and thoroughly recommended.

5 Stars Andrea June 05, 2011

I'm almost a kid myself so I go to Rainforest wherever there is one(like San Francisco or Anaheim). I'm also a Vet Tech, so the animals definitely play a huge part. :)

$6.00 for bud light. Bar tender is rude and the pizza is over priced. BUT the fake gorilla is cool

3 Stars Goon29 October 29, 2010

Your typical chain restaurant in a resort area. Food was pretty much on par with any other location. Prices are actually reasonable compared to many other Vegas options.

2 Stars Michael Dutterer October 21, 2010

The atmosphere is decent but the food is not very good for the inflated prices.

4 Stars Brian October 16, 2010

Love the Brave New World pizza. Yes it's a tourist trap and a little loud. You will have kids at the tables next to you.

4 Stars Andrew kca September 17, 2010

Good food had seafood platter cooked well. It is loud but it's expected.

0 Stars Johanna May 20, 2010

The food was ok. Kind of loud, good if you have kids with you, but realy why would you bring liitle kids to Vegas?

0 Stars Dab May 11, 2010

Great prime rib

4 Stars Lisa April 30, 2010

I loved it! The decor was very nice, with the lights, sounds and animatronics, and numerous tropical fish tanks. We were seated with no wait on a Saturday for lunch. The server was fun and attentive. The prices are a little high, but it's Vegas, and you're also paying for the entertainment value. The food was delicious! we had coconut shrimp, ribs, spinach and artichoke dip, perfectly cooked steak and garlic bread and frozen margarita. Make sure you read the menu closely, the food titles are...different. Bit nonetheless I was thoroughly impressed and highly recommend it :)

3 Stars Eric April 13, 2010

A tourist trap, nothing more. An OK place if you have kids, as the animals on the wall will probably keep them entertained for a bit. For adults, it's quite annoying.

Average food at inflated prices.

1 Star Emma January 14, 2010

Have been to Vegas on two previous and loved this restaurant however on our visit in April the service and the food were very disappointing. As always the surroundings were great but I would not rush back here on my next visit.

2 Stars Pete December 04, 2009

Restaurant decor is brilliant with the forest, thunder and animals the food was nice aswell a bit expensive though.the reason I would never go back is the staff there so annoying and don't give u a minutes peace to enjoy ure meal they seem to look down there noses at you so never again for me.

1 Star Neeska October 02, 2009

Service was okay, atmosphere was fun, menu was limited, food was as average as a red lobster/chili's . Worth a walk by but definatly not worth the time or expense to dine there

4 Stars Ericpascale September 14, 2009

Beau décor, bon burger!

5 Stars Bdi May 24, 2009

Good for kids

4 Stars Lisaloo May 08, 2009

We were seated and seen to straight away. Staff were friendly and food was really yummy. We had the burgers and they were good. Fun atmosphere, even has a thunder storm every now and again! If you have kids take them, they will love it. If you don't like eatting arond children, don't go.

3 Stars Mary January 02, 2009

We ate there the weekend after Thanksgiving. It was nice. I recommend making Reservations. The wait was very long. The food was good, nothing super exciting, just standard. Would eat there again.

Had dinner here on Friday the 8th of Feb. Since we had a party of 10 I had called several days in advance and secured a reservation. When we arrived at 7:45 for our 8:00 PM reservation, all we could see was a long line in front of the hostess booth. There didn't appear to be any other way to the booth but the line so we waited in the line for about 10 minutes. Since the line had not moved at all in that time, I worked my way through the "maze" of the retail store and approached the hostess. I saw a sign that had an arrow pointed at the line and said "walk ins" as well as another sign (without any arrows) that said "reservations". I asked a hostess where I was supposed to stand if I had a reservation and she pointed at the line and said, "right here". I then asked those in line if they had a reservation and they all said "no", so I asked my question again to the hostess. She then said we could be seated immediately and led me to some tables in the bar area that she started pushing together. When I observed that the waterfall affect behind the seats was splashing water on the seats and there was a puddle forming on three of our seats, she said she'd wipe it up for me...I then pointed out that the water was splashing on the seat and it would just get wet again (along with those of us lucky enough to sit there) she said "...so do you not want these seats? If you give these up it will be another 45 minutes to an hour before we can seat you..." I told her that I just wanted to be seated where we wouldn't be doused with water and received only a blank stare in response so I asked to talk to a manager.

When the manager arrived, she immediately fixed the situation. She seated us in the main restarant (I assume by mixing tables from different sections because all night we had food runners try to deliver other people's food to us) and explained that they never should have tried to seat us in the bar since we had a reservation.

Dinner was good and very plentiful In fact, several of us split the entrees...at no additional charge... and still had food left over when we were done.

Our server was very friendly and prompt. We all shared the ice cream volcano cake and had plenty between the 10 of us.

One of the appetizers we ordered was not ever delivered so I asked the waiter to remove it from the bill. he appologized and said he would when he took my credit card. Assuming he had done so, I paid the tab and added a bit more tip (they had already added 18% since we had a party of 10). Later, when we got back to our hotel, I was a bit ticked when I realize that the waiter never actually removed the $9.75 from the bill and I failed to scrub the final copy after he brought back my card.

I decided that life was too short to go back and fight for my $9.75....but I'll probably not go back.

It was a good place to bring kids to but it is just a bit too loud and busy for adults.

We came here for a late night meal (probably around 11pm) and were seated for about 20 minutes before out waiter arrived to take the drink order. Once he took it, we didn't see him for another 20 minutes so we left. Because of this, I have no idea how the food is, but the service is a nightmare!

0 Stars RateVegas.com User March 15, 2006

The place is a bit loud and service at the tables is hit or miss, really depends on the server. It's not great, but a heck of a lot better than paying 3x's the price for "pretty" food at those other restaurants that are invading Vegas.
It's just good old comfort food. Hint: For a quick bite, order the appetizer plate at the bar. It will fill you up and get you on your way.

THE FOOD AND SERVICE WERE GOOD I WILL GO BACK.

0 Stars RateVegas.com User October 27, 2004

This place was something our daughter looked foreward to visiting for a long time. What a MAJOR disappointment it turned out to be for all. The restaurant was 1/2 empty but we had to wait over an hour for a table. Our orders were finally taken 1/2 hour later and the food was brought out about another 40 minutes later. The vegetables I ordered turned out to be a pile of "rinds". Nice scenery, but EXTREMELY poor service and food. STAY AWAY !!!!!!!

In our 5 days at the MGM, we ate 3 meals here. mmm. My hubby had the shrimp fettuchini (sp) each time. We went 1 time for the dessert called the Volcano. mmmm. It feeds 3 - 4 people. I took quite a few pictures inside this restaurant as it's full of animals (not real except for the fish). Us your receipt to receive a 15% discount in their store.

0 Stars swanboy333 February 19, 2004

The food here is good. It took forever for anyone to take our order and also they stuck us in a dark corner. I recommend eating here just to say you have but the service is horrible.

0 Stars lisabatty August 28, 2003

We had a lovely lunch here... we have no kids so felt it was a little over the top theme-wise, however the families who were in at the same time really seemed to enjoy it. I opted for a waffle with all the trimmings - not a big portion, but when you've stuffed yourself at the Luxor buffet for breakfast you don't need much!! My boyfriend chose the Pizza Pie which was delicious. Service was very good and the staff very attentive. Food took a while to arrive, but the waitress was very apologetic and gave us free drinks by way of apology. Nice, for a light lunch and a good gimmick for young kids.

0 Stars Paul July 02, 2003

Worth going to, just for fun. The food was decent but a little overpriced and the service was mediocre. The rainstorms were very cool.

0 Stars sunny729 April 17, 2003

Hmmmm...Waffle House or Rainforest...Waffle House or Rainforest...I'll eat at the Waffle House next time.

0 Stars sunny729 March 30, 2003

Can we say "Over Board!" Some body did not know how to say stop. The service was equal to a Jr.High lunch lady.

0 Stars Hunter February 28, 2003

I had a terrible breakfast here. I was the only person in my section and I stil waited at every stage. When I did finally get the food, it was under cooked and just generally poor. I will NOT be returning here. Ever.

0 Stars RateVegas User January 12, 2003

Great to bring the kids to, but if you don't have them with you, skip it. Very kitchy, everytime we've been, all the wait-staff has this attitude problem (even the ones that aren't in Vegas!). Food is decent, but over-priced. Specialty drinks are really good. Go experience it at least once.

0 Stars RateVegas User February 26, 2002

The people are cool, and so is the atmosphere. Come on where else can you be in a thunderstorm inside? Wierd bar.

0 Stars RateVegas User November 14, 2001

This place use to be one of our favorites. Took our daughter in October -- I will never go back. The prices went up & the food was not very good.

0 Stars RateVegas User August 27, 2001

This place used to be fantastic!! I went out of my way to take some first-timers to experience the food and atmosphere. I will never go back. The prices were higher, and the food was worse. The service was average, similar to a waffle house dennys,etc...

0 Stars RateVegas User July 28, 2001

Food was OK at best....but the place was a nice experience to eat in

0 Stars RateVegas User June 11, 2000

The food was very good & the view was spectacular. We happened to get a very lousy waitress but that can happen anyplace.

0 Stars RateVegas User May 23, 2000

Food was ok but it was such a nice to see. Ask for a table upstairs...great view of the place....Overall it was a very nice experience that you don't want to miss. If nothing else stop in for a dring in the interesting bar at the front and walk thru to see everything in there.
